British expat branded 'whinging Pom' after wild claim about Aussies

Kyle is one of thousands from the UK who visit Australia every year, but his remarks haven't gone down well with locals.

A British bloke living Down Under has riled up locals by taking aim at Aussies on social media this week with his remarks earning him the label of a "whinging Pom".

Addressing his "fellow English people, foreigners and backpackers" on Tiktok, the traveller named Kyle asked if others also shared the same experience with Aussies, admitting he found us "really f***ing hard to get along with".

Aussies are often known to have a sarcastic or dry sense of humour which is widely recognised across the world. But Kyle doesn't agree and admits he's struggled to "have a laugh" with locals in Cairns where he's living.

"I don't mean they're rude or anything, although some can be. But in my experience, it's really f***ing hard to have a laugh with Australians," he said, adding "[Australians] just don't get it".

"You try and throw a little one-liner and have a bit of banter and you're just met with the f***ing most stone-cold face in the world".

But his comments didn't go down too well with Aussies and travellers alike, many of whom agreed "Aussies are the friendliest and are such easy people".

"I’m Irish, and find the Aussies and Kiwis some of the easiest people to get along with," one admitted in the comments. "Us Australians have our own humour," another said.

"A Pom?? Whinging??? I have never seen something like this in my life," another sarcastically wrote.

Others got slightly more personal in their response and lashed out at the Brit.

"Did he really just come in here and admit that no one is finding him funny?" one questioned. "If you're in Australia, you're the one who doesn't get it," shared another.

Meanwhile, another wrote, "Na mate, we’re not hard to get along with... we all had a meeting and decided we didn’t like you".

His TikTok also features a host of other videos in which he's complaining about his gripes with Australia. In one, he questions why Aussies are always barefoot admitting "I just don't get it". He also says that Cairns is "stuck in the past" claiming it "hasn't caught up with the rest of the world".

In another video he lashes out at Aussies who always "walk in the way" of other people, insisting we are a nation of slow walkers.

Over a one-year period between July 2023-24, roughly 32,840 UK nationals visited Australia, according to the latest ABS data. And while it's a sought after destination, with many raving about their visit, some, it seems, have taken issue.

Earlier this month British man Owen Willis shared his long list of gripes with the country, even categorising the "entire" country as "very racist". He went on to encourage people not to bother moving to Australia and even took aim at our native wildlife.

Another woman previously shared her own frustration with our native animals, going as far as labelling Australia a "scam'. Meanwhile, a Canadian man in Australia recently infuriated locals after attempting to pick up a snake in the wild. "Never do that in Australia," one warned.
