Brit Hume Suggests JD Vance Got The VP Nod Because He 'Sucked Up Effectively' To Trump

Now that Donald Trump has chosen JD Vance to be his running mate in the upcoming presidential election, people are speculating what qualities set the Ohio senator apart from the other people who were reportedly up for consideration.

Trump, as of Monday the official GOP nominee for president, claimed on his Truth Social platform that Vance was “the person best suited to assume the position.” But Fox News analyst Brit Hume wondered if maybe Vance was just the best at kissing Trump’s behind.

During a discussion about the vice presidential selection on Monday, Hume pointed out Vance’s previous stance as a “Never Trumper” before speculating on why Trump chose him.

“Did he get it because he was really the best qualified to be president?” Hume asked. “Or did he get it because he sucked up effectively to the nominee? People will have questions about that.”

Considering that a lot of Trump voters are reportedly not thrilled with the selection of Vance, many people on social media thought Hume might be on to something.

Hume later seemed to do a bit of sucking up himself, with a social media post that praised Vance as “dazzlingly articulate” and, possibly, “a natural politician.”
