An 11-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of incidents in Bristol including two indecent assaults.

A woman and a teenage girl were indecently assaulted and three other women were approached by someone with a knife, police said.

All five incidents took place in the Redcliff and Montpelier areas between 20 and 25 March.

Police believe the incidents could be linked.

Officers attended each incident but the offender had already left the area.

Targeted patrols were subsequently put in place to search for the offender and to provide the public with reassurance.

'Concerning'

Acting Ch Insp Tom Gent, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "We continue to carry out inquiries into each of these incidents and remain open minded as to whether they are linked.

"The individual we have arrested is a child and we have interviewed him alongside an appropriate adult to see if he has any information about the incidents which could help our investigation.

"We are also engaging with our statutory partners as part of our safeguarding responsibilities.

"The nature of the offences is concerning and officers continue to target their patrols to provide reassurance and to act as a deterrent."

The boy was released on bail with conditions to stay home between 19:00 and 07:00 BST.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
