Woman spots sinister intruder moving towards her head in unnerving selfie
A Brisbane woman has had her selfie photobombed by a snake while enjoying a Sunday stroll.
The woman, who asked not to be named, told Yahoo News Australia she was walking around Lake Manchester west of Brisbane about two weeks ago when she stopped to send her partner a photo.
She lied down on the ground and prepared to take a selfie but soon heard a rustling noise.
“I thought it might have been a skink,” she said.
“Whatever it was I thought it was about to run over my head.”
The woman took the photo then turned to see something dart back into the undergrowth.
“I thought, ‘surely, I didn’t get it in the photo’,” she said.
“I have no idea why it got so close to me.”

But the photo captured the cheeky serpent just metres from the woman’s head.
“There were no snakes there when I sat down,” she said.
“I think it’s one of those one-off things, but luckily enough I was able to catch it on camera.”
The woman sent the photo to Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 Stuart McKenzie for help to identify the snake.
Mr McKenzie said he believes it might have been a red-bellied black but couldn’t be certain.
He also believes the snake might have come out of the bushes to soak up some sun but became spooked by the woman.
