A Brisbane woman was unable to sleep on Wednesday night after finding out she had won a life-changing $30 million in this week's Oz Lotto draw.
Following the announcement of a lone Brisbane player scooping Tuesday night's jackpot, there was a hunt for the winner, with officials saying the ticket was purchased at a shop at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.
On Wednesday night, the woman's husband arrived home from work and suggested they check their lottery tickets as the division one winner was from Brisbane.
“I didn’t think I’d win anything significant though," the woman told officials from The Lott after contacting them on Thursday morning.
“At first, we thought I’d won $30,000. Then we double-checked the ticket and I remember thinking, ‘oh my goodness, we’ve won $30 million!’"
The woman said it was like a dream, and she was awake all Wednesday night thinking about how their lives were about to change.
She said the first thing she and her husband are going to do is buy their first home. Then they're going to make sure they and their families are set up for the future.
“Even though we know it will change our lives forever, we’re adamant that we won’t let it change us as people," she said.
“The rest of our lives are going to be very different to what we had envisioned but we can’t wait to start this new journey."
The Brisbane woman purchased the winning ticket at Metro News on 1st at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. She wasn't registered with The Lott, so there was no way for officials to contact her on Wednesday.
Senior staff member Carol Hinds was very happy for the customer and said it felt as though she had won.
“We’d like to wish them all the best and congratulate them on their life-changing win," Ms Hinds said.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto's draw 1481 were 20, 22, 2, 17, 41, 31, 29, and the supplementary numbers were 7, 18 and 36.
There were also 11 division two winners in Tuesday night's draw, each taking home over $39,000.
