Bride's outrageous request so wedding guest doesn't 'clash with theme'

If you’re asked to be in the bridal party for a wedding, you can expect to have your hair done a certain way and be given a dress to wear.

But if you’re just attending the wedding as a guest, other than having to maybe follow a certain dress code, there aren’t generally too many requirements.

One woman, however, has shared the outrageous demands a bride made before her big day - so that the guest wouldn’t “clash with the theme”.

The unnamed wedding guest shared screenshots of the text message exchange to a wedding shaming group on Facebook, causing outrage among others in the group.

Outrageous demand

The bride wanted the woman to make sure to cover up her tattoos, which seems slightly reasonable if you were wanting her to feature in a lot of photos, however she also demanded the guest change her hair colour.

“Could you maybe fix your hair up so it's a natural colour? We've put a lot of work into our theme and I'm sorry but your look clashes with it,” the bride wrote.

“Even if you just put some spray or something on your hair for the night. I just want it to all look perfect and I can send you some ideas for nice long sleeve dresses for you to wear or just wear a jacket.”

The woman was understandably shocked and tried to reason with the bride, saying she can look into some options for her hair.

“I definitely can't dye it because it's been a lot of work to lighten it to this blue and I'm planning to go a bit darker, but yeah. I'll look into some options for my hair,” she responded.

But she added that because the wedding is in summer she would struggle wearing anything with long sleeves.

But that wasn’t enough for the bride, who then blamed the woman for not caring.

“I know it's hot but it's my one day, so if you can't suck it up I feel like you don't really care about me or Sam and probably shouldn't come," she wrote.

"I'm not asking much and it's not my fault you get hot."

Turning full bridezilla, she then told the woman that if she turns up to the wedding with her tattoos visible she won’t be allowed inside the venue.

Left with not much else to say, the woman responded by saying she is not in the wedding party so “I just don't think this is fair to ask”.

And plenty of people agreed with her.

“You can’t impose those kind of rules on your average wedding guest,” one person wrote.

“I'd be so p***ed to get this. Friendship is gone. Let the games begin,” another said.

“Wow, she was being really nice about it too, offering to change her hair. But really what is this 'theme' that a tattoo or hair colour is so damn bad on a guest,” another asked.
