Bride arrested for DUI while driving to her own wedding

It wasn't the kind of wedding picture this bride had in mind for her big day, but an unofficial photographer caught the candid moment she was taken into custody on her way to the ceremony.

Amber Young, 32, was driving herself to her wedding on Monday when she was cuffed and arrested by police for drink driving.

The woman was pictured entering a police car, wearing a full-length white gown and hands cuffed behind her back, after causing a three-car collision, according to police in Marana, Arizona, in the US.

She initially refused a breath test, but consented to blood test, and was later charged with driving under the influence.

Sgt Chriswell Scott of the Marana Police Department tweeted a photograph of her arrest, with Ms Young being led into the police car in handcuffs.

"A driver was arrested for DUI this AM while driving to her wedding. @MaranaPD officers arrived at OG/Thornydale at approx 1030 reference a three vehicle collision. One person was transported with minor injuries," he tweeted with the picture.

"Don’t drive impaired, till death do we part doesn’t need any help," he added, before removing the tweet later on Monday night.

Sgt Scott told AZCentral the outcome of the crash could have been far worse than just a DUI. He tweeted that one person suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

"It's supposed to be the happiest day of her life, and this just goes out as a reminder as to why you should never drive while impaired," he said.

It wasn't clear if the incident caused a delay in the nuptials, or if the bride made it on time.
