A CT scan indicated “progressive improvement consistent with the President’s excellent condition,” according to a medical bulletin from the Sirio-Libanes Hospital published on Tuesday. Lula will continue to be monitored by his team of doctors, according to the statement.
Earlier this month, Lula was rushed to Sao Paulo for emergency brain surgery after being diagnosed with an intracranial hemorrhage resulting from a previous fall. That prior accident in October led the 79-year-old president to cancel his participation in a series of international summits.
Lula was released from the hospital Dec. 15 and resumed his job duties in the capital, Brasilia. He is still restricted from global travel and physical exercise.
