Brad Hodge cops it from Channel 7 colleague over response to Glenn Maxwell's insane BBL catch
The former Australia player didn't appear as impressed as the rest of the cricket world.
Damien Fleming has jokingly taken a swipe at Channel 7 colleague Brad Hodge after he didn't give Glenn Maxwell any player-of-the-match votes despite his insane catch on Wednesday night. Maxwell took one of the greatest catches in recent memory as the Melbourne Stars snapped their winless run against the Brisbane Heat.
Maxwell dismissed Will Prestwidge on the boundary during the Heat's innings with a freakish piece of skill. The Aussie veteran leaped over the boundary to catch the ball, before flinging it back into the field of play before he landed out-of-bounds.
He then managed to get his feet back in the field of play before completing the catch. The absurd effort is being described as the best catch in BBL history, and one of the great catches at any level of cricket.
"Greatest catch in the BBL ... there's been some absolute screamers," teammate Marcus Stoinis said after the game. "I can't think of any better catches in general.
"The thing about Maxi is that he practises that so much. For him to seize the opportunity and judge the flight of that ball and be arguably three metres over the boundary when he took it one handed ... he is a superstar."
Brad Hodge not that impressed despite Glenn Maxwell screamer
Cricket fans and commentators were left gobsmacked by the effort, but it wasn't enough for Hodge to award him any best-and-fairest votes. Maxwell took four catches but made a golden duck with the bat, and Hodge decided to give votes to Stoinis (six votes), Dan Lawrence (four), Max Bryant (two) and Xavier Bartlett (one) instead.
Stoinis made 62 off 48 balls in a man-of-the-match display, while Lawrence made 64 not out off 38 balls as the Stars won by five wickets. Bryant made 77 not out off 48 balls and Barlett took 4-10 off four overs for the losing team.
But Fleming was still stunned that Hodge couldn't find any votes for Maxwell and his catch. "What is going on here?" Fleming said on the Channel 7 coverage after Hodge revealed his votes. "Where's Maxwell? He took the greatest catch we've ever seen. Four catches and he can't get any votes."
Hodge defended the snub by pointing out that Maxwell got a duck, but Fleming highlighted that the Stars had all-but secured victory at that stage anyway. "You're banned next game (from awarding votes)," Fleming said.
No, he got the right 4 players. Just the wrong order. Bartlett was incredible and should have got the 4 votes.

Marcus Stoinis and Dan Lawrence snap Melbourne Stars' drought
The Stars' win at the Gabba came after they lost their opening five games this season and the final three of last year's campaign. The Heat made 7-149 while batting first thanks to a blistering knock from Bryant. The hosts then made the perfect start to the Stars' run chase with pacemen Bartlett and Spencer Johnson rocked the top order to have the visitors teetering at 3-14.

But Stoinis and England import Dan Lawrence stood up and delivered in a 134-run partnership for the third wicket. Stoinis smacked Paul Walter for four boundaries in one over and paced the run chase perfectly, bludgeoning anything loose to secure his first as Stars captain.
"It is a reward for a lot of hard work the boys have been putting in," Stoinis told AAP. "We've done a lot right those first five games so it was nice to go a little bit further, push the partnerships further and to hold onto some brilliant catches."
