Boy's sweet note after losing toys in neighbour's backyard
A young boy has surprised neighbours with a “wholesome” act to get his balls back after losing them over the fence.
The neighbour posted a picture on Reddit of a heartwarming note they received from the boy in Mt Albert on New Zealand’s North Island.
“There may be a couple of balls in your backyard,” the note said, accompanied with a box of Roses chocolates.
“Would you mind throwing them over your back hedge please?
“P.S. There may also be a frisbee. Chocolates to say thanks.”
The neighbour who received the note joked on Reddit they threw the balls back but would need a box of Whittaker’s chocolates to part with the frisbee.
The note prompted commenters to share memories about when they would lose balls over their neighbours’ fence when they were young.
“When we were kids, over the fence is six runs and out,” one said.
“But everyone just jumped each other’s fences to get their ball back.
“Or if we didn’t know them maybe knocked on the front door first to see if they’re home, then if not, just went into the backyard and grabbed it. Nobody cared.”
