Boy buys $3000 worth of SpongeBob ice blocks from Amazon

A four-year-old spent over $3000 on SpongeBob Square Pants ice blocks to be delivered to his aunt's house through Amazon.

According to a GoFundMe, Noah, from Brooklyn, New York, ordered $2618 ($A3367) worth of the ice treats— or 51 cases with a total of 918 of the items.

Noah loves SpongeBob a lot, but his admiration for the cartoon character, and presumably ice blocks got his mother into a tough situation.

"As (truly!) adorable this story is, Jennifer Bryant, Noah's mom is a social work student at NYU and simply cannot afford this," Katie Schloss, the organiser of the GoFundMe wrote.

"Amazon will not take back the popsicles, and Ms Bryant, mum to three, doesn't know how she's going to be able to pat this off, in addition to student loans and all of the family's other expenses.

Fortunately, people empathised with the Bryant’s story and more than $10,000 has been raised through the GoFundMe.

On May 4, Ms Bryant thanked people on the GoFundMe for their generosity.

“Thank you SO much for your mind-blowing generosity,” she said.

“We’re so grateful to have made back the $2618.85 in a mere 24 hours.

“As a parent to a child living with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), all additional donations will go towards Noah’s education and additional supports. We cannot thank you enough.”

In a statement to PIX11, an Amazon spokesperson said the company was aware of the Bryant’s story and was working to directly connect with the family.

Ms Schloss was in one of Ms Bryant’s classes and found out about the situation when Ms Bryant posted about it on an NYU Facebook page.

Many people online share boy's SpongeBob love

People also showed their support for Noah on the GoFundMe, saying they too loved SpongeBob.

‘Lol this is the coolest kid!!! I was a fan of Sponge Bob as a teen...so I get it, King lol,” someone said.

“He's ridiculously cute... here's hoping they don't get sick of popsicles!” another said.
