Boy, 13, found 'naked with chains padlocked to his ankles'

A 13-year-old boy was found naked and chained at an Alabama home after an anonymous 911 call led investigators to the disturbing scene.

Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger told reporters the child’s chains were attached to a door, preventing the boy’s normal movement.

He estimated the boy had been chained up for several hours when they made the discovery on Thursday afternoon.

The child’s 32-year-old mother Danielle Nicole Martin, 26-year-old stepfather Joshua Daniel Martin and 58-year-old grandmother Vickie Seale Higginbotham were arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse.

The boy was allegedly forced to sleep in a dog crate at night, The Montgomery Advertiser reported.

“I mean, we’ve never had anything like this in Autauga County,” Sheriff Sedinger told the publication.

“We’ve had child abuse cases, physical abuse cases that were bad. But nothing like this where a child was left chained up for an extended period of time.”

But the sheriff said the boy was speaking with deputies and did not seem withdrawn.

He described the teenager as fun-loving and sweet.

Two other children were turned over to the Department of Human Resources.
