Boy, 12, killed in quad bike crash while riding without a helmet

A 12-year-old boy has died in quad bike crash on an outstation north of Alice Springs after a family member found him unresponsive near the vehicle.

Northern Territory police say the boy was on Wednesday was riding along an access road prior to coming off his bike and was not wearing a helmet at the time.

His family found him “some distance” from the vehicle, a NT Police statement read.

Police were called to the scene about 4.30pm, but the boy could not be saved.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
