Boy, 11, dies while fishing in NSW's west

An 11-year-old boy has been killed while fishing after a creek bed collapsed beneath him in NSW's central west.

Emergency services were called to a property on Mitchell Highway in Molong, about 35km northeast of Orange, just after 2pm on Saturday following reports of the collapse.

Three boys had been fishing on a creek bed when it collapsed, police were told.

One boy, 11, was treated for critical injuries but died at the scene, while the other two boys were not injured, police say.
