Boxing champ, 18, killed by train while checking her phone

A young female boxing champion was killed by a train after she crossed a railway line “wearing headphones and browsing her smartphone”.

Amina Bulakh, 18, did not see an oncoming passenger service until the last moment, according to local law enforcement explaining the untimely death.

The Ukrainian women’s youth boxing champion tried to avoid the train but was hit and fatally wounded.

The horrific accident reportedly took place while Amina was on the way to the pharmacy in her home village of Tarasivka in Kyiv region.

Reports say she was wearing headphones and could not hear the approaching train as she walked over the track at a designated crossing.

Witnesses said she was browsing her mobile as she walked slowly seemingly oblivious to the danger until the last moment.

Ukraine police have launched a criminal investigation into her death.

“Tragic circumstances have taken the life of Ukraine youth female team member Amina Bulakh,” said the Boxing Federation of Ukraine.

In September she won a bronze medal at the European youth boxing championship in Bulgaria.
