'Go away Rona': Fashion brand slammed for coronavirus-themed line

An online clothing retailer has come under fire for a coronavirus-themed line of dresses.

Shoppers shared their discovery of Born To Be Chic’s latest line of frocks on Twitter, which included the ‘Go away Rona Dress’ and the ‘Quarantini Time Dress’.

The fashion website also includes ‘Hurry up 2021’ Jumpsuit, a ‘Date Night on Zoom’ Jacket, and a ‘Keep your Distance’ dress, with most items selling for upward of $100.

People were understandably shocked my the move amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed the lives of 37 Australians, and 69,374 people globally.

“Sick,” was all one person could respond.

“Are they really charging triple digits for fast fashion in a global crisis which has cost millions of jobs,” another asked outraged.

A few shoppers however didn’t mind the cheekily named line and revealed they would be happy to buy anything from the range.

“Ok but keep your distance and cute in iso are going in the cart

It’s not the first time an Aussie fashion brand has been accused of profiting from the health crisis.

Last week Natalie Rolt, an evening wear brand from Western Australia, received backlash after sharing photos of handmade face masks on the brand’s Instagram page, but revealing the product was not medically graded.

“During such a helpless time as a small business, we are trying to put our skills to best use in producing a 100% cotton, reusable mask, assisting in reducing hand-to-face contact,” the caption read.

However people were quick to slam the label for seeming to profit from the coronavirus pandemic, especially as the masks offered no protection.

“This is not going to protect you whatsoever,” one person commented.

“And you’re not even donating the profit?” another outraged person questioned the brand.
