Royal University Hospital (RUH) and the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital (JPCH) in Saskatoon have been locked down after a bomb threat, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

The SHA said in a news release early Wednesday afternoon that a "code black" had been called, meaning a bomb threat had been reported.

RUH and the JPCH were put on lockdown, restricting access for public and patients. Saskatoon police responded to the scene along with hazmat units.

SHA said it would provide updates as they became available.

"Patients requiring emergency medical attention can seek care at St. Paul's Hospital emergency department or Saskatoon City Hospital emergency department," SHA said.

SHA said patients with medical appointments will be called to reschedule.
