Body of professional poker player Susie Zhao found in Michigan park

The body of professional poker player Susie Zhao was found in a Michigan park Monday, police confirmed. She was 33.

Police found a charred body in a park on the outskirts of Detroit on Monday. They identified that body as Zhao’s after taking fingerprints. Zhao is believed to have died the night of July 12. The White Lake Township Police Department is treating Zhao’s death as a homicide. Police are seeking more information from anyone who might have interacted with Zhao prior to her death.

Zhao — who was known as “Susie Q” in the poker world — played in a number of tournaments and high-stakes games.

Zhao also played in the World Series of Poker main event, one of the biggest and most popular events in the game.

Police working with FBI on the case

Police are trying to determine whether Zhao’s death is linked to her profession. The White Lake Township Police Department is working with the FBI to solve the case.
