Body of paraglider recovered from base of NSW cliff

The body of a man who was killed in a paragliding crash has been retrieved by police helicopter from a cliff south of Sydney.

The man took off from a popular gliding spot at Bald Hill Lookout at Stanwell Tops on Saturday afternoon before he fatally crashed into a cliff around 3pm.

Crews who were trying to retrieve his body ran out of light and decided to try again on Sunday.

They returned to the site for a briefing at 8am and Polair arrived on scene an hour and a half later, a NSW Police spokesperson told AAP on Sunday.

The helicopter was able to successfully recover the body.
