Body of missing surfer located off NSW north coast

The body of a missing NSW man has been located.

It's understood the 20-year-old man was surfing at Fingal Headland Point, Fingal Head, on Sunday when just after 11.30am, he appeared to become distressed in the water.

Police have been told a man was body boarding, when he lost his board and attempted to climb onto the rocks.

Emergency services were called to the beach and commenced a search for the man with assistance from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command and Surf Life Savers.

Just after 1.30pm, the man was pulled from the water.

NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR on the man however the man could not be revived.

A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
