Body found on rocks in Sydney bay
A day at the beach has ended in tragedy after a man's body was found on rocks underneath a cliff in Clovelly.
Police say number of children were playing on rocks at Gordons Bay when they located an injured man just before 1pm.
They alerted their father, who contacted police.
Emergency services located the man, believed to be in his 50s, with severe head injuries. He died at the scene.
A Surf Life Saving Australia spokesman said the man "died from falling off the cliff".
"He's suffered severe head trauma. There is no indication how he came to fall," he said.
While the investigation into the circumstances of his death has only just begun, police say the man's injuries suggest he may have been walking along a track beside a cliff face and slipped, falling onto rocks below.

A crime scene has been established and a path leading down to the rocks from where the man is believed to have fallen has been closed.
The man’s identity is still to be confirmed, however he was found wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, chequered grey shorts and a backpack, police say.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and contact Maroubra Police Station, or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
