Woman's body found floating in water at popular beach

A body has been discovered floating in the water at a popular beach near Perth in Western Australia.

On Sunday afternoon, WA Police said the body has been identified and that her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to Scarborough Beach, west of the city, about 5.30am following reports of a body being found.

The woman was spotted near the Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club on the Esplanade.

Police cordoned off a section of the beach while forensic officers investigated.

The beach was closed to the public on Sunday morning, however it has since reopened.
