Passengers aboard a fishing boat watched in awe as a massive great white shark feasted off the floating carcass of a dead whale.
When the five-metre beast spotted the dead sea animal floating in the water, it immediately took the opportunity to make a meal of it.
A private fishing charter that was taking anglers out to sea filmed the predator as it swam to the carcass floating offshore from the San Clemente pier, in California, US, on Thursday.
In the clip, someone can be heard saying “Oh my Lord,” as the shark swam near the boat.
“Look at the bite marks on the head!” another person commented as the best swam closer.
The first man later replied: “Unbelievable… Wow,” and added that the great white had “come in for a snack”.

The great white can then be seen roughly biting chunks out of the carcass.
As soon as he received word of the great white in the harbour, owner of Newport Coastal Adventure Ryan Lawler raced down to take a look.
He told the Orange Country Register the whale appeared to be a 8.5 metre juvenile.
“It had drifted back to the beach, and had a huge shark on it,” Mr Lawler said.
