The Block: Shaynna Blaze's brutal verdict of guest bedrooms

Shaynna Blaze has offered up some brutal feedback during The Block's first room reveal of 2020.

This year on the show, each team is renovating a house from a different decade of the early 20th century and are encouraged to keep their renovation faithful to the period of time the house was built.

Luke and Jasmin have a house that was built during the 1910s, but after receiving their first lot of feedback on the reveal, they may need to work a bit harder.

Host Scott Cam delivered the brutal feedback to the couple saying, "Shaynna thinks this is probably the least relevant room to its era they have seen today."

Shaynna was unimpressed that the pair had used Deco-era styling a 1910s room, however, her fellow judges weren't quite as harsh.

"I think it’s a fair interpretation. While it might not be exactly 1910, I think it’s a good interpretation of how the market might perceive a house of this era," Darren Palmer offered.

Shaynna, however, called it "confused", saying, "I think it’s a crying shame. They’ve been given a house with a specific decade … you don’t have to be a slave to it, but don’t pick a different decade, because this is confused of what it wants to be."

Neale Whitaker defended the couple as well, "I think a lot of potential buyers would walk in here and say, ‘What’s the problem?’ They have delivered a very accomplished, glamorous, contemporary room."

Shaynna continued, saying the couple hadn't done enough to grab the attention of an emotional buyer and by the end of the judging, the others agreed it was a "generic room".

Luke and Jasmin, said they wouldn't let the feedback stop them from their plans for the rest of the house, which could do more harm than good as they finished with the lowest points.

Shaynna's tough feedback didn't stop there, she went on to say she was "upset" by the curved skirting used in Sarah and George's 1940s study area, adding she found it to be a "generic boutique apartment renovation".

She wished they had kept with the "sharp lines" in the other rooms, saying, "Everything in the rest of this house is sharp lines. They have decided to create their own version of the 1940's and not look at the beauty in that hallway. I'm actually now getting upset."

Neal agreed, saying it was "dull" and "bland", he added that they shouldn't be disheartened though, and that it was the opportunity for them to "course correct".

Harry and Tash's 1920s guest bedroom, and Daniel and Jade's 1930s guest bedroom however, were hits with all three judges.

Jimmy and Tam's 1950s style guest bedroom was the winner of the evening and they scored the $10,000 cash prize and state-of-the-art appliances for their kitchen.
