Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell announce exciting addition to the family
The couple revealed the news with a sweet video on Instagram.
Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell have made the exciting announcement that they’ve welcomed a new addition to their family.
The couple shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday talking about the latest animal to join Australia Zoo, a Fijian crested iguana with an adorable name.
“Hey guys, Bindi and Chandler here, and we are joined by an incredibly special lizard,” Chandler said. “This is Kermit, the Fijian crested iguana.”
The 26-year-old explained that this species of iguana are “most arboreal”, meaning they live in trees, and they have long tails for balance.
“Their hands are designed for clinging onto tree branches and they’re such cute lizards, they have the personality of puppy dogs,” he laughed. “They’re one of my favourite animals on planet Earth. It never gets old hanging out with Fijian crested iguanas.”
Bindi also pointed out that Kermit is currently shedding, which is “wonderful because you can actually see that spectacular pattern underneath that bright green colouration”.
“Thanks for joining us and thank you for getting to meet our beautiful little Fijian iguana, because we think the world of you,” she added.

Others also pointed out Chandler’s strange hybrid accent, with the Florida-born conservationist pronouncing certain words like ‘dog’ with an Australian accent.
“Omg you can hear his Australian accent starting to push through,” one follower remarked.
“It sounds like Chandler has a little bit of an Australian accent,” another shared, followed by someone else who said, “I had the same thought”.
“Listen to Chandler go! He's really part of the family for sure! But the Aussie accent hasn't stuck to him yet!” a different user replied.
