Bill Sammon Named SVP, Washington D.C. Editorial Content for Nexstar’s Hill, NewsNation
Bill Sammon, a veteran of Washington D.C. media outlets and a former longtime senior editorial executive at Fox News Channel, has been named a senior vice president at Nexstar Media, where he will oversee news coverage of the nation’s capital for both The Hill and NewsNation, two of the company’s media properties.
Sammon, who left Fox News in 2021 after the outlet came under scrutiny for making an early call for President Joe Biden’s victory in Arizona in the 2020 presidential election, was recently tapped to help out with NewsNation’s coverage of the 2024 race. He served as a liaison with Decision Desk HQ, a voter-data analysis firm that guided NewsNation on the calls it made during Election Night. The outlet was the first mainstream news netweork to call the election for former President Donald Trump.

Sammon will report to Grzech, another former senior news executive at Fox News who guided coverage of Washington, D.C.

Sammon started his journalism career working as an investigative reporter for The Plain Dealer newspaper. In 1995, he moved to Europe to become a war correspondent for The Stars and Stripes, covering conflicts in Bosnia and Iraq. In 1997, Sammon relocated to Washington, D.C., and spent a decade as a White House correspondent for several newspapers, including The Washington Times. Mr. Sammon has written six books on the presidency, four of which became New York Times bestsellers.
