Bill Gates, Melinda Gates announce divorce
Microsoft power couple Bill and Melinda Gates will get a divorce after 27 years of marriage.
The couple announced the decision in a joint statement to Twitter on Monday US time.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the pair said in a joint statement today.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.
“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.
“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

The Gates’ got married on New Year’s Day in 1994 and have three children together, Jennifer, Phoebe and Rory.
Bill Gates, who co-founded Microsoft in 1975, is reportedly worth US$130.5 billion (AU$168.5 billion).
The couple together founded the world's biggest charitable foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has funnelled US$53.8 billion (AU$69.30 billion) into the fight against COVID-19, among other charitable causes since 2000.
