A self-professed member of the Brothers For Life gang has been arrested during an investigation into a number of violent crimes in NSW.

During their investigations, police determined that a number of violence acts, including shootings in public places, in the Illawarra were the result of a dispute between the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang and other groups, including Brothers For Life.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on March 26 in Newcastle and charged with a number of firearm and drug offences.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Wollongong Local Court on May 7.
