'Beyond revolting': Man takes his shoe off and cuts toenails on train

A man has been called “disgusting” after he was caught on video clipping his toenails on a Melbourne train.

Commuters on the train on Wednesday were horrified to see the seated man remove his shoes and give himself a pedicure, leaving toenail clippings on the carriage floor.

The 15-second video shows the barefoot man clip away at his toes, while an abandoned Chuck Taylor shoe sits on the floor beside him.

The act disgusted not only commuters, but many others who watched the video uploaded to Reddit.

“That is beyond revolting,” one person commented.

Another said: “Oh damn that’s just nasty.”

One person suggested commuters should have asked the man to stop rather than filming the gross act, however others pointed out confronting the man may have resulted in an undesirable outcome.

“I wouldn’t say anything,” one responded. “If you’re cutting your toenails on the train you’re either homeless or a f***wit. Both types could be unpredictable.”

Another agreed: “Because it takes a certain kind of person to cut their toenails on a train. Seriously, think about the kind of mindset you would have to have to do something like this… There really isn’t a good reason to assume he’d respond in a civilised manner.

“Sometimes it’s just better to avoid the potential conflict.”

Unfortunately it’s not the first time someone has been spotted cutting their nails on a train.

In July last year, a woman went viral after she was spotted cutting her fingernails on a trip in Sydney.

In the US, a man was filmed shaving his face – with shaving cream and all – on a train in the state of New Jersey.

After the video went viral, it was revealed the man just wanted to look “presentable” after leaving a homeless shelter.
