'Beyond disrespectful': Teens filmed stealing flowers from Anzac memorial

Victoria Police are hunting a group of teenagers who stole memorial wreaths and posted the incriminating vision to social media.

Just one day out from Anzac Day, shocking video emerged showing the teenagers removing floral wreaths left at the Cenotaph at Box Hill Gardens.

The video, posted on Snapchat and then shared on Facebook, shows teenage girls laughing as the group of boys begin piling up flowers they had carelessly removed.

“The boys are bringing us flowers,” the girl filming the video can be heard saying as the teens laugh.

One girl can later be seen placing a wreath on her head and posing for a picture.

The footage caused outrage after it began circulating online, with social media users condemning the actions of the “beyond disrespectful” teenagers.

“We have a whole generation of no respect,” one man wrote.

“Make them walk the Kokoda track. Teach them about the sacrifices that were done for our freedom,” another added.

“They will learn what ANZAC means and stands for.”

“That is the most disrespectful and most disgusting thing I have ever seen,” another wrote in response to the footage.

One mother expressed her own disgust, saying she hopes the parents of the children see this and punish them.

“If my children ever did something like that they would be grounded for the rest of their life,” she wrote

The floral wreaths have since been replaced at the memorial.
