Best Woolworths, Coles 50%-off deals this week

Woolworths and Coles are again taking 50 per cent off the price of selected items.

Woolworths and Coles sell a bunch of grocery items at half-price each week.

The supermarkets don't make much of a profit from these 50 per cent off products. But they're on sale to lure customers into the stores, with the hope that they will buy other full-priced items to complete their shop.

The half-price specials also differentiate Coles and Woolworths from fast-rising challenger Aldi. The German upstart does put on its own weekly deals, but the discounting is nowhere near 50 per cent.

As usual Yahoo Finance has compiled the best deals from both stores to help you compare. The prices below apply from Wednesday January 15 to Tuesday January 21 inclusive:
