Hamburgers, fried chicken and pizza are big business in Australia.

IBISWorld figures show the quick-service food industry was worth $20.1 billion in Australia last financial year.

And Australians especially love fast food when it's also cheap.

Fortunately, with such a huge amount of customer money up for grabs, there are always discounts available that mean no one has to pay full menu price.

The big restaurants know appealing prices are the best way to bring customers through the door.

Yahoo Finance now brings all the deals together here to help you decide where to go for a cheap meal this weekend:

McDonald's: best discounts

The Monopoly game is the big campaign at McDonald's currently, but it doesn't give out any discounts per se. It does allow customers a chance to win free food though.

So the best discount deals are on the MyMaccas smartphone app:

  • McMuffin: $2 – on the mobile app

  • 2 Quarter Pounders for the price of one – on the mobile app

  • Free regular fries and drink with the purchase of 10 McNuggets – on the mobile app

  • Free regular fries with the purchase of a McClassic burger – on the mobile app

  • Small McFeast meal: $5 at selected stores and on the mobile app

  • 24 chicken McNuggets: $9.95 between 10:30am and midnight

KFC: best discounts

The KFC Australia smartphone app – especially the Colonel's Offers section – contains the chicken restaurant's best discounts:

  • Dinner box (10 pieces original recipe, 2 large chips): $21.95

  • Family burger deal (4 Zinger or Original Fillet burgers, two large chips, 1.25L drink): $20.95
