As the rain pours, many people are noticing mould and damp in their homes.

A dehumidifier can help reduce the likelihood of mould by drawing excess moisture from the air and soft furnishings.

They are excellent if you can't improve airflow in a room, or have ongoing damp issues.

How do humidifiers work?

Desiccant dehumidifiers work best in rooms that are generally under 20 degrees.

They absorb moisture from the air by using a slowly rotating disc.

This disc then dries off, evaporating the water and collecting it in a tank.

They are usually compact, although can be a bit more expensive to run.

Refrigerant humidifiers work like a fridge, and are best in warmer climates.

They draw in air, then cool it to condense the water it contains.

They are often energy efficient but can sometimes be noisy.
