2020 may have been the year we lived in our active and loungewear - but who says 2021 has to be any different?

And that's not a bad thing as a recent survey sponsored by Chobani Australia of more than 1,200 Aussies revealed that activewear can in fact be responsible for helping us be more motivated to eat healthier and be active. In fact, 30 percent of people said they were more inclined to eat healthier foods when wearing activewear.

So in that spirit, we've rounded up some of our favourites pieces around in the current activewear game to top up your workout (or not working out) wardrobe.

ECHT

The Echt motto is "engineered for the modern day athlete", and they make good on it by creating multi-use clothes "that can be worn from the gym to brunch to the shops". They are based out of Melbourne – so shipping is super fast - and have an international following. They also have an online outlet that is always stacked with SALE items.

Top pick: Famous for their Arise Scrunch Leggings for $74, but if the scrunch bum isn't quite up your alley the Arise Comfort Leggings for $71 are also a best seller.

The brand specialises in matching activewear sets in block colours and have become something of a cult buy. They recently launched The Originals collection, with the Originals waffle sand crew selling out in 9 minutes. Their Umber tights from Premium Seamless V2 also sold out in 2 minutes! According to co-owner Matilda, their next huge launch, Premium Seamless V4 “is going to rock the industry”.

Heading overseas UK brand Gymshark has grown a global cult following from its humble creation in a garage by a group of high school friends. Gymshark is a huge name in the activewear biz thanks to its functional and fashionable high quality designs. And in a huge win for Aussies, you'll no longer have to wait weeks for online orders to be shipped from the UK, with the opening of a new distribution centre in Melbourne cutting delivery down to less than three business days.

Top Pick: Pretty much anything from the Vital seamless (leggings for $80) or Adapt seamless collections like this gorgeous new Ombre range (leggings for $95 sports bra for $75)
