Beer sold at Coles, Woolworths recalled over illness risk

Beer drinkers in Western Australia are being advised about the recall of a popular XPA sold at Woolworths and Coles stores.

Eagle Bay Brewing Company is recalling its 375mL XPA cans with a best before date of 19/04/23 due to secondary fermentation.

The process of secondary fermentation can alter the flavour and alcohol content of the beverage.

In announcing the recall on Saturday, Foods Standards Australia said the beers potentially posed a danger.

"Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may cause illness/injury if consumed," it said in a statement.

"Consumers should not drink or open these products, and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund."

If you have purchased the recalled product and want to know more, customers are advised to contact Eagle Bay Brewing Company.
