Beauty queen with Down syndrome lands contract with major cosmetic brand


A trail blazing model with Down syndrome has landed a contract with major brand Benefit Cosmetics.

Kate Grant, 20, a model from Northern Ireland has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for the company Benefit Cosmetics, the Metro UK reported on January 10.

Ms Grant became the first woman with Down syndrome to win the Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World pageant in 2017, the Mirror reported.

She has previously modelled on the catwalk at Belfast Fashion Week, the BBC reported.

“She is aware of that and wants to spread awareness about inclusion for people with disabilities and that is what she has done from the very start,” Ms Grant’s mother Deidre told the outlet.

“When you are young you think the sky is the limit and with Kate she does not have the understanding that we have that there are obstacles in the way.”

The cosmetics brand uploaded a photograph of Ms Grant wearing their eyeliner on January 3 and the Instagram post has received over 4,000 likes.

Social media users are delighted by the young model’s success.

“Absolutely stunning young lady. Reach for the stars,” one Instagram user commented.

“It’s so amazing what you are doing! Keep it up!” another user wrote.

“Beauty beyond perfection! Slay it Kate!” posted another.
