BBC's Gaby Roslin shares update on Zoe Ball as she misses Radio 2 show

BBC Radio 2's Gaby Roslin has provided an update on Zoe Ball, who is taking time away from the Breakfast Show to be with her ill mother Julia.

Having stepped in to replace Ball, who hosts weekdays from 6.30 to 9.30am, Roslin told listeners that, although her friend and colleague won't be around as normal, she'll still pop into the studio intermittently.

"Zoe will be in, but she's just going to take a few days off here and there. Because she wants to be with her beautiful mummy Julia," she said.

"I'm here, I've got your back Zoe, always have," continued Roslin, who is best recognised for presenting Children in Need for nine years.

"Love to Julia as well and to the whole family. Zoe says her mum is being incredibly brave, and she's in awe of the doctors the nurses and the support teams. Love you Zoe."

Ball publicly announced her mother's cancer diagnosis via Instagram yesterday (March 6), uploading two pictures – one of which featured Julia in chemotherapy.

"Heartbreakingly our beautiful Mama Julia has been diagnosed with Cancer. As many of you know from experience, these are extremely tough times," the presenter wrote.
