Barnett reshuffles WA Cabinet

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett has reshuffled the state cabinet in the wake of Brendon Grylls' resignation.

While he remains member for the Pilbara, Mr Grylls stepped down as leader of the WA Nationals and also as minister for regional development and lands.

That portfolio has been given to new party leader Terry Redman, whose water and forestry portfolio has been handed to Mia Davies, the WA Nationals' new deputy leader.

Treasurer and Transport Minister Troy Buswell has lost fisheries, which goes to Agriculture and Food Minister Ken Baston.

Mr Barnett said Mr Buswell had too much on his plate and big challenges in addressing the state's ailing finances, while Mr Baston "could do more" and it made sense to group fisheries with agriculture and food.

Health Minister Kim Hames, who was stripped of tourism after admitting to an expenses bungle, has gained training and workforce development.

Swearing in will occur next week.
