Banned driver leaves court to spark ‘unbelievable’ 140mph police chase
A motorist who had been banned from driving sparked a 140mph police chase which led to his arrest on Monday.
The man had attended a hearing at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court where he was disqualified from driving.
Despite being banned from driving, he proceeded to drive away from court where he was followed by local police officers.
Officers followed the driver along the A59 and A1 in North Yorkshire on a 140mph police chase.
One of my team was at court in #Harrogate today with a drug driver who was convicted and disqualified from driving. Unbelievably he left the courtroom and got straight behind the wheel of a car to drive home 1/3

Sergeant Paul Cording of North Yorkshire Police said the driver had been “weaving dangerously in and out of traffic & using all the lanes including the hard shoulder”.
He was eventually stopped near Leyburn when officers deployed a stinger in what Sgt Cording called a “complete disregard for road safety”.
The man was re-arrested on Monday and remanded in court to appear again on Tuesday.
