Bakery owners post hilarious note about 'getting rid of son'

Bakery owners have written a hilarious note for their customers explaining their absence and revealing why they’re trying to get rid of their son.

Mr and Mrs Lim from Lim’s Hot Bread Bakery in Sydney’s Eastwood announced the shop would be closed for a few days, as their daughter Julianne is getting married on September 7.

The proud parents also shared their plans for their son after the wedding.

“We apologise that the bakery will be closed from 4th September to 12th September,” the note says.

“Mr and Mrs Lim will be preparing to send off their daughter and will then be planning on how to get rid of their son.”

The note was left on the roller door of the shop for all of the community to see, and the Lim’s son, Brandon, who according to the Daily Telegraph had no idea about the jab.

“I wasn’t expecting that, I thought ‘What the hell?’’ 18-year-old Brandon told the Daily Telegraph.

“I think I’m a catch.”

The sign to the customers said the Lims would have “many stories and photos to share” when they returned, and they would “miss you all” while taking a few days off.

“Thank you so much to all the support you have shown for the last 25 years and thank you for watching our children grow with us,” the note said.

It is apparently unusual for the Lims to shut up the bakery, which they have had for 25 years. Speaking to Humans of Eastwood Daily in 2015, Mr Lim said they only shut up the shop once a year over Christmas and New Years.

“When we do, we leave a little story at the door for our regular customers to read. They know us like family," Mr Lim said.

“This year the Lim Team will be joined by two other families for our Asian invasion at Tea Gardens because the Vietnamese, Chinese and the Koreans are coming to PARTY with you!” A 2018 note addressed to all their “beautiful customers” said.

One time the family decided to share a few intimate stories poking fun at Mr Lim.

The two pieces of paper left on the roller door shared how over the years Mr Lim got in the habit of saying “Morning Shop Bread” instead of “Good Morning, Lim’s Hot Bread”.

The second story they shared was how Mr Lim was dozing off in the hairdresser’s chair after agreeing to a “number one”.

“Is it too late for a 1.5?” Mr Lim reportedly asked the hairdresser, who proceeded to “turn Mr Lim into a monk”.

The Facebook comments from customers clearly show how beloved Lims Hot Bread is.

“Loved that bakery before we moved interstate. Beautiful family with a fantastic sense of humour. They have been putting signs like this on their shop for many years when they take a rare holiday,” someone wrote on the Humans of Eastwood Daily post.

“Congratulations to [the] Lims family,” another customer wrote.

“I am still grateful that years back while I have to drive miles away to get gluten free bread for my children and Mrs Lim offered to bake and sell gluten free bread on Tuesday.

“Lim’s Bakery is a much beloved true local.”
