Bag of bones dropped off at Melbourne op shop

A bag of bones was donated to an op shop and has been taken for forensic testing.

The bizarre donation was made on Thursday at an op shop in Melbourne’s southeast.

Alarmed staff at Sacred Heart Mission Op Shop on Commercial Road, Prahran contacted Police who took the bones for forensic testing.

“Police are investigating after a bag containing bones was donated to an opportunity shop in Prahran yesterday afternoon [9 August],” a spokeswoman for Victoria Police said.

Communication and Advocacy Manager at Sacred Heart Mission, Brittany Dupree, told Yahoo7 that the donation was made on Thursday.

“We did receive a donation and within that small box there were bones,” she said.

“We do not know if they are or are not human,”

“We can’t really comment, it’s a matter before the Police.”

The investigation is ongoing.
