Back To The Future icons Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd have reunited for a one-off event.

The duo, who shot to fame together as Marty McFly and Doc Brown in the 1985 film and its subsequent sequels, are rarely seen together 36 years on, but "Great Scott!", they made an exception over the past weekend.

Appearing at AwesomeCon in Washington DC, the duo posed for socially distanced meet-and-greets with superfans of the hit sci-fi comedy.

In snaps shared to their Instagrams, Fox, 60, and Lloyd, 82, were seen having a laugh and being driven around in a golf cart.

It’s not quite the DeLorean, but it’s a little more practical.

Giving a thumbs-up from his seat, Fox wrote alongside his picture: “Back to back”, with Lloyd commenting: “Best of times”

Lloyd’s pic, showing the pair deep in discussion, was titled “caption this”, causing Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane to joke about Lloyd’s beard.

Comparing him to iconic interviewer David Letterman, who similarly sports a long, grey beard alongside a bald head, Macfarlane wrote: “My next guest needs no introduction.”

While the pair have been seen together for the past 36 years, over time their joint appearances have become far less frequent.

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, aged just 29. The neurological condition causes problems with movement, like shaking and stiffness, that get worse over time.

Fox has continued to work regardless, even fronting The Michael J Fox Show in 2013.

Most recently, he’s been seen in recurring roles in Designated Survivor, The Good Wife and The Good Fight.

Earlier this year, he returned to the role of Marty McFly for a jokey cameo in Lil Nas X’s The Origins of: Holiday.

Lloyd has appeared in indie flicks including I Am Not A Serial Killer, Cyberchase and 12 Monkeys after a string of celebrated roles in the 80s and 90s, including Uncle Fester in Addams’ Family and Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

But he’ll be best remembered for his 1.21 gigawatts of energy thrown into the forever beloved Doc Brown.
