Bachelorette Brooke breaks silence on Abbie and Konrad’s relationship

Brooke Blurton has finally spoken out after it was announced that her friend and former Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield is now dating her on-screen ex, Konrad Bien-Stephen.

Konrad made it all the way to the top four on Brooke’s season of The Bachelorette, while Abbie appeared in the season’s final episode as one of her friends meeting the top two contestants.

Chatting exclusively to Yahoo Lifestyle, Brooke revealed that she and her chosen winner, Darvid Garayeli, have both spoken with Abbie and Konrad recently.

“Abbie is my friend,” Brooke said. “Obviously she came on the show last night and that was four months ago. But I guess seeing them together, it makes sense as well.

“Like, they are actually really similar - two Geminis, we love to see it. So I feel excited that that’s come out of the show. I feel very happy for both of them.”

Brooke also directly addressed the rumours that she and Abbie were currently ‘feuding’ after fans noticed that she had unfollowed the I’m A Celebrity champion on Instagram.

“I just say to people, interpret it however you want,” she continued. “There’s always going to be speculation and rumour, but there’s no conflict until two people admit that there is.

“I’m friends with her, we’re civil, we’re mutual. It’s all good, it’s all gravy.”

As well as Konrad and Abbie officially ‘hard launching’ their relationship this week, fellow Bachelorette contestant Holly Langford recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that she and intruder Millie Rubio are now dating.

Brooke and Darvid said that they are thrilled for the happy couple after learning about their romance just a few days ago.

“We were like, far out it’s finale week, it’s all happening. I’m having mental breakdowns about the whole thing, I can’t wait for it to be over but then I’m like, it’s over?! So my mind was swirling, but we were really happy,” Brooke recalled.

“Our initial reaction was like, that makes sense. They’re two amazing, beautiful people that deserve one another, absolutely.”

Brooke went on to say that she feels proud to have been a part of such a groundbreaking season that focused on positivity and featured “genuine and authentic” male and female participants.

“When I signed up for this, I was like, I really hope that they don't overdramatise a lot of the banter between girls and guys, that's not the whole thing,” she explained.

“And I felt like throughout the whole season, seeing how people interacted with me and how they spoke about one another, I was like, what? Bring a little bit of drama! But they were the best group of people.”

“It was quite a strange thing to be a part of,” Darvid added. “You see someone else go on a date and you’d be like, ‘How was it?!’ And we could all see each other looking at each other like, are we alright?

“Everyone was so supportive, so respectful and I think that was largely due to the fact that there were girls and guys and it wasn’t just all blokes trying to be the alpha male. It was a really nice thing. And off the back of it, we’ve also had two other relationships come out of it.”
