'So weird': Bachelorette fans confused over 'awkward' promo

Fans of The Bachelorette have been left confused and unsure about the upcoming 2020 season after watching the first promo starring sisters Elly and Becky Miles.

Touted as the ‘double Bachelorette,’ both Elly — who appeared on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor — and her older sibling Becky are set to embark on their search for love together in a first for the Aussie series.

But after five years with a solo bachelorette at the helm, the show’s new direction hasn’t received the warmest of welcomes from viewers on social media.

“This looks awkward already,” wrote one fan in the comments on Instagram.

“Very unsure about this,” added another.

Others couldn’t comprehend how the show would actually play out with two bachelorettes.

“So they’re sharing the boys???” asked one viewer.

“I still don’t get how this will work... what if they want the same bloke, or if the blokes only like one and not the other,” questioned another.

It’s not just viewers at home who were confused, either, with several bachelors featured in the promo visibly baffled upon meeting both sisters on the red carpet.

One fan on Facebook was stumped by the producers’ decision to have Elly and Becky choose from a single pool of potential suitors.

“Mmm I thought there will be two separate lots of guys for each bachelorette, not to put them all in one basket, eww that’d be weird. But I’ll still watch it,” they wrote.

Some saw a huge potential for awkward love triangles and sibling fights.

“So technically both of them could be macking on with their potential brother in law... you couldn’t write this sort of drama!” one wrote.

“Wow!!! Imagine falling for the same dude,” remarked another.

Even ex-Bachelorette star Carlin Sterritt weighed in on the changes, hinting that the bachelors have a tough challenge ahead.

“So if you don’t get a rose... you legit couldn’t vibe with either of them... and that’s rough!” he wrote.

Another former Bachie star, Helena Sauzier, appeared to agree, replying, “Oof that is”.

Days earlier, Elly was caught up in rumours surrounding Bachelor Locky Gilbert who went on a ‘liking spree’ of saucy snaps shared by various scantily-clad female Instagram users.

A photo of Elly sporting a white lacy bra and knickers set was one of the pics that received a ‘double-tap’ from Locky back in April according to an Instagram post shared by the So Dramatic! podcast.

Former Bachelorette Angie Kent called out Locky’s online behaviour as ‘super disrespectful’ in a lengthy comment, saying, “unless home girl is your girlfriend or ya best friend, how about you don’t go and double tap that?”
