The Bachelor's Zoe-Clare had blonde hair before redhead rant

To say last night’s Bachelor premiere was explosive would be an understatement, as 23 women made their way into the mansion to vie for Locky Gilbert’s affection.

One contestant in particular, Zoe-Clare McDonald stood out after she broke down crying because she felt she was being “targeted” over the colour of her hair.

After proclaiming to the camera: “I’m proud of being a ranga. I will be a ranga until the day I die”, eagle-eyed fans have now spotted that Zoe-Clare didn’t always have red hair.

A stream of photos on Zoe-Clare’s Instagram show that the 23-year-old Queenslander has in fact been blonde before.

“Fact Check: Zoe-Clare falsely claims “I will be a ranga until the day I die”. Sources now reveal she was under the influence of peroxide from as early as January 2018 - March 2019,” one fan wrote online.

During Zoe-Clare’s speech on the show about being a redhead, she stated:”I don’t care if you’re black, white, caramel, whatever. Ranga. I want to be here like, you know what – we can win. We can win because I’m not blonde. I’m not brunette. I’m not anything other than what I am. I’m not going to pretend to be. I’m me. And if he likes me, then f*cking awesome.

“I don’t want to go through this experience being different because… this sounds so stupid, but because of the colour of my goddamn hair. And that sucks. The colour of my complexion.

“The one time that I can walk in something and I’m like no one has my hair. No one has my bone structure, no one has my body. And they don’t! That’s not a lie. They don’t! But you’re still different. You’re still a fucking ranga at the end of the day and that sucks because they think, no matter what, oh it’s fine, she’s different. Like did Areeba do it to any of the blonde girls? Any of the brunette girls? No.

“You know what? I’m proud of being a ranga. I will be a ranga until the day I die. We are more striking than any other human this worth… that walks this Earth. Don’t have our blue eyes or brown or our green eyes that can literally stop traffic.”

“Zoe-Clare complaining to one of the only POC in the house about being oppressed for having red hair is just.......so.....incredibly tone deaf,” one person wrote.

“Zoe-Clare acting like she's in a hard done by minority singled out for their complexion is peak privilege,” another said.

Others commented saying they were “speechless” while some said they couldn’t believe what they’d watched.

Despite the drama about Zoe-Clare’s hair last night, Locky looked to be having a great time and after recreating the classic lift from Dirty Dancing together, he gifted Nicole with the Triple Threat Rose.

At the rose ceremony, with only 21 roses to give out, Locky said goodbye to Nadine and Paige.
