Baby fighting for life after meningococcal diagnosis
A South Australian baby is fighting for life after contracting meningococcal disease.
The little girl is in critical condition at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
Seven News understands the baby is from Roxby Downs in outback South Australia.
She was flown to hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service on Wednesday morning.
Urgent tests are being carried out to determine which strain of the disease she is carrying.
Authorities have also identified several people who may have had contact with her.
Eleven of them are receiving precautionary antibiotics.
There have been 17 cases of invasive meningococcal reported so far this year.
