The incident took place at the youngster’s home in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on the afternoon of March 24.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the baby alive, and she was rushed to hospital. Sadly, she passed away en route and arrived at the hospital without vital signs.

The baby’s dad, who was at work when the incident took place, has filed a police report so that an autopsy can be performed.

The man’s wife was at home with their baby and the couple’s other two children, 12 and 3, when the incident took place, but she did not see it happening until it was too late.

The Brazilian fire brigade has since instructed the population to take care of youngsters around pools and buckets, particularly on hot days.

The autopsy is underway.
