Baby dies after 'waiting hours' to see doctor at hospital
A baby has died at a Melbourne hospital emergency department, sparking an internal review and coronial referral.
The infant was taken to Sunshine Hospital in the city’s west last week, 7 News reported.
A triage nurse assessed the baby before its mother was told to wait in a room where she stayed with her baby for close to two hours.
The mother then approached the desk concerned about the baby who died soon after.

“The circumstances surrounding the baby’s death will be formally reviewed and the matter has been referred to the coroner,” Western Health Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Eleftheriou said.
