An Austrian man has confessed to sexually abusing 52 minors whom he had groomed online, police say.
The 27-year-old suspect from the rural Amstetten district in Lower Austria province used a mobile messenger service to get in contact with the boys that were between 11 and 17 years old, according to investigators.
He offered them money or physical gifts if they sent him videos of sexual acts, police said.
The man went on to meet his victims in person and sexually assaulted them in his home, his car or in remote forest areas, according to the report.
The crimes that were allegedly committed over the past six years came to light after prosecutors were alerted that the man had tried to organise a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old boy.
In addition, the man and an accomplice allegedly abused and tortured a 23-year-old mentally impaired man, police said.
Both suspects have been detained.
