NSW

* 20 people dead

* 101 fires continue to burn with 40 uncontained

* More than 5.2 million hectares burned - equal to the metro areas of the five mainland state capitals

* 2079 homes confirmed destroyed, more than 4287 outbuildings and 216 facilities razed

VICTORIA

* Five people dead

* 16 bushfires burning in the Gippsland, northeast and alpine regions

* More than 1.4 million hectares burned

* 368 homes confirmed destroyed and 581 other structures lost

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

* Three people dead

* Numerous fires burning on Kangaroo Island

* More than 495,000 hectares burnt

* 170 homes confirmed destroyed

QUEENSLAND

* 13 bushfires across the state

* 2.5 million hectares burnt

* 48 homes confirmed destroyed

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

* 22 bushfires burning in the Goldfield-Esperance region, Wheatbelt, Pilbara, Perth region and southeast

* 2.2 million hectares burnt

* One home confirmed destroyed

TASMANIA

* Four fires burning across the state's north, east and south

* More than 36,000 hectares burnt

* Two homes confirmed destroyed
